ASTS provides much of its education, training, and research resources via the ASTS Foundation. The foundation was established in 2004 to provide for additional programs that support its mission to promote philanthropy in the field of transplant surgery and to ensure the future of ASTS. Funds generated are used to provide support for ASTS sponsored initiatives such as education, fellowships and other training, research, and the pursuit of critical programs that will impact the field of transplantation. From research grants that will encourage young investigators to make an impact on the field through innovative research and discovery, to the Annual John S.Najarian Lectureship which honors an individual who is a proven leader in the medical field, the Foundation is dedicated to continuous advances that will serve patients who need or have had an organ transplant.
